The Heartbreakers’ ‘L.A.M.F.’ (Like A Mother Fucker) is hailed as one of the classic punk albums. Formed by New York Dolls Thunders and Jerry Nolan in 1975 they influenced the UK punk scene, joining the Sex Pistols, Damned & Clash on the infamous ‘Anarchy’ tour. 'L.A.M.F.' was released on Track Records in 1977 to much acclaim, but was marred by a muddy sound. In ‘94 Jungle found long-lost original mud-free sessions and re-compiled the album. Now, we’ve found intriguing studio rehearsals and chat, unreleased alt. mixes and demos for this bonus CD! PLUS: 24p booklet with song notes and lyrics in this deluxe issue! A special deluxe 2xCD edition of The Heartbreakers classic album ‘L.A.M.F.’ is being released shortly, with a bonus CD containing demos, rehearsals and outtakes. The studio rehearsals include the original instrumental backing tracks with studio chat, plus alternative 1977 mixes from different studios, and two demo sessions from early and late 1977. The package comes with a 24-page booklet, for the first time includes the lyrics to all Heartbreakers songs and has background info about each song written by guitarist Walter Lure. The Heartbreakers were formed in 1975 when Jerry Nolan & Johnny Thunders left the New York Dolls. Briefly they were together with Richard Hell, they then teamed up with Billy Rath & Walter Lure. Malcolm McLaren invited them join the Pistols for the Anarchy tour in 1976. Staying in London at the heart of the punk scene for the following year, they signed to Track Records and recorded ‘L.A.M.F.’ The album was famously flawed with a ‘muddy mix’ in 1977 caused by a mastering fault, the properly audible version remaining unheard until 1994 when Jungle sifted through all the original master-tapes. Johnny died in 1991, followed by Jerry’s death in 1992. Their influence on the punk scene in 1977 has permeated through to today’s new rock’n’roll scene, with ‘L.A.M.F.’ cited by many over the years as a huge influence. |
